23rd January is the Birthday of the beloved Neda Agha Soltan

23 January 2010 would have been the 28th birthday of Neda Agha-Soltan, the Iranian woman who was shot and killed by the Iranian government on 20 June 2009. Her murder was captured on video and became a symbol for the Iranian government's brutality against its own citizens.

There will be events around the world on this day to remember Neda.
In London, we will be gathering outside Press TV, the TV station run and funded by the Iranian government which has participated in the Iranian government's smear campaign against Neda and those who were with her during her last minutes.

This Press TV propaganda is in line with the continuous desecration of Neda beyond her death by the Iranian government and its forces: Neda was denied a proper funeral, her gravestone was removed, her portrait at the grave was shot at.

Ever since Neda was murdered, Press TV as the propaganda mouthpiece of Ahmadienjad's coup administration has lied inconsistently about who killed Neda. They claimed Arash Hejazi, the doctor who went to help Neda, was on the Interpol list, a lie which they continued even after Interpol categorically denied it.

Now Press TV have been showing a documentary which claims Neda herself was part of a sinister plot and was murdered inside the car that took her away!!

On this day we will lay 28 pictures of Neda, with 28 candles and 28 rose branches outside Press TV reception in Westgate, Hanger Lane to remind this propaganda broadcasting media that we will not fall for their lies. Neda will be alive for us forever. The bullet that killed Neda gave life to a nation of Nedas.

We will also demand for the freedom of broadcasting and information in Iran that Press TV broadcasters enjoy in this country.

There will also be a commemoration book for all attendees to sign which will be sent to Neda's family.
